A prepper is someone planning ahead and preparing for hard times. This can include: natural disasters, a faltering or collapsing economy, unemployment, terrorist attacks, etc.
Many preppers try to live a more frugal and independent lifestyle, free from government supports and mandates. Preppers believe in individual self-reliance rather than dependance on government entitlement programs.
A common misconception...you do not need to own cammo clothing to be a prepper. All you need a desire to be proactive and ready to take care of your family if (or when) hard times hit.
If this describes you, you're NOT alone. WELCOME!
Feel free to post ideas, comments, and questions. We're here to help each other.
OldMan...you'd never catch me wearing cammo and slinking through the brush with my tinfoil had on. LOL
Preppers are simply people who live more like our grandparents and great grandparents. Our 24/7 society of convenience is a recent phenomenon. Just because I'm buying food while prices are low to hedge against inflation doesn't make me a survivalist...it make me fiscally smart. :)
Mystry, Welcome on board. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts: the serious AND funny ones! :)
Bear Grylls is so hard to watch. My stomach literally turns at some of the things he does! However, IF the day EVER came that it was a choice between eating a grub worm or dieing, the information he provides could become invaluable! (Please Lord...let me have stored enough food! I don't want to eat grubs!!!)
