There are several theories about how, when, and why a societal collapse will occur. The idea of a "golden hour" is very popular. This is the theory that it could take society as long as 72 hours to FULLY grasp the severity of a SHTF event, depending on the type of collapse.

In the event we see the warning signs and recognize that it MIGHT be possible to grab a few remaining items before venturing out becomes too unsafe, I've created and printed a "Last Minute Items" list.

I'm not 100% sold on the idea of heading out during a crisis, but with this list in hand it would help minimize any confusion about what to purchase and what to ignore.

Your thoughts?

Well can I see the list?

Remember, as a prepper it is my goal to NOT have to grab anything at the last minute....
BUT if I could, here's my working list:

GAS: vehicles & cans
caffeine pills (back up for DS#2's asthma)
PET FOOD!
Off spray
duct tape
tarps
cotton string
bicycle repair stuff
extra jeans
extra tennis shoes, sandals, etc.
socks
underwear
distilled water
kerosene for oil lanterns (Klean Heat)

Feel free to share your last minute items. :)

I got tired of commenting. Suffice to say this list would not be my list.....

I would say that much on this list should already be in hand.....

At the LAST MINUTE, I would stick to things that are perishable or consumable... IE FOOD and GAS......

Depending on the situation, I would pick up fresh veggies, meat, breads...
Then move to pastas, and canned goods ( you can never have too much)......If the store was not a madhouse, I would grab a crapload of coffee and hard alcohol....

Then I would fill up on GAS as much as I could..... If I had time and money left, I would grab all manner of meds and first aid supplies (again, you can never have too much....

After that, I would leave the folks unprepared to fight it out for the jeans and bug spray....

Mine's not a perfect list, but many are items I've:
1. meant to get
2. have on hand but could use more
3. thought they'd be overlooked by the hoards.

It's also a list that changes. Hopefully I won't have to venture out among the zombies...but if I do, it will be quick and organized!
