When my DH and I realized that we agreed with the idea of prepping, we...1. Searched the internet for, at the time limited, information.2. We found this P.A.W. Productions video.3. We ordered 5 gallon mylar bags and 2000cc O2s, bought (4) orange 5 gallon buckets and an aluminum level/ruler from Home Depot, and 50 lbs. each of dry pintos and rice from Sam's Club.4. Finally, we followed the video to the letter! We calculated that those (4) buckets would feed our family of 4, for 3 months. Nothing fancy, but it was a start. That was our jumping off point and we haven't looked back since.Let us know...what was the first thing you did when you realized prepping made since?
I started collecting MRE's and canned goods....I became frustrated having to rotate stock on the cans and searched for longer term food storage options.....I, too, then started to bucket rice and beans.... Super easy to do and lasts upwards of 30 years.
One of those huge can of baked beans from Sams Club, back in the late 1990's.I too have moved into longer term storage.
I stated with medical/first aid books and went from there into medical supplies and ammo I actually got into food storage last
I started the same way bwestand7 did. I am still reading and want to learn gardening and canning.I purchased a dehydrator to see if I can do that properly. Still working at it.
